Whereas in film, the characters with rare exceptions are being created for the first time. This makes portraying a movie character much easier than portraying a character in a play or musical. As Eugene states in his article, "Stage vs. Screen: What's the Big Difference? Depending on the size of the role, you may not receive any direction. Films hire actors under the assumption that they will come to set performance-ready. Plays are written and then directors get ahold of the play script and adapt it to fit their stage and actors and sometimes even give it a bit of a modernized twist, whereas the screenplay for a film can be in revision as the acting is happening. For television shows, the scripts are written as the show is happening and the actors can get the script revisions while they are filming, whereas in theatre, the script is already written and no major revisions can really be made. Movies and theatre production teams usually hire or cast trained and experienced actors and actresses to play a part in their movie or stage production. In movies, since they are filmed, the actors and actresses can easily correct their mistakes. For theatre productions, however, actors and actresses do their performances live so they have to be perfect in carrying out their roles since there is no director to cut the play and repeat the scene again during the actual performance day. Having these characteristics, movies and theatre productions have different impact on the audience. Audience impact partly depend on the preferences of the people. Some people are more affected or moved by theatre performances, others by movies. Even so, movies have greater impact on people because they have a wider audience. They are more accessible and cheaper. Theatre productions are not available for everyone and not a lot of people are fond of them either. Although movies and theatre productions are both entertaining, more people prefer watching movies because they are more practical and they have more enhanced visual and audio effects. But, in order to truly compare and contrast these two forms of entertainment, one must experience them both first. Reflection: I actually had fun writing this essay.
